River and canal cruises in Leeds Grenville are well known because we have two world-recognized waterways within our region. There is the St. Lawrence River and the 1000 Islands and then there is the Rideau Canal and Waterway Heritage Route. The 1000 Islands is known for its natural beauty. The Rideau Waterway is a UNESCO site for its man-made splendour. There are several tour boat operations to access both of these waterway systems, including dinner and overnight cruises.

The Rideau Canal is considered the most outstanding slackwater canal system in the world and one of the first designed for steam-powered vessels.
